SkipDewax for FISH and ISH on Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin-Embedded cells/Tissue Sections (or Bifunctional SkipDewax Pretreatment Solution [BSPS] for FISH and IHC)
SkipDewax pretreatment solution is an aqueous, non-toxic, non-flammable, dual deparaffinization and unmasking/antigen retrieval (AR) agent for formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded cell/tissue sections. Accordingly, during FISH or DNA-ISH, treatment of paraffin-embedded tissue slides with SkipDewax solution at high temperatures (e.g., in water bath, steamer, pressure cooker, etc.) simultaneously removes paraffin from paraffin-embedded tissue slides and also unmasks more nuclear DNA sequences, which results in increased signal intensity.
In addition, during IHC (immunohistochemsitry), treatment of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue slides with SkipDewax solution at high temperatures (e.g., in water bath, steamer, pressure cooker, etc.) simultaneously removes paraffin from paraffin-embedded tissue slides and also retrieves more antigens (AR), which results in the stronger staining intensity of antibodies.
Therefore, SkipDewax can potentially replace the use of xylene for FISH, ISH, and IHC, which causes health hazard and also increases the costs related to the use of toxic and flammable xylene including the cost of disposing the spent toxic and flammable xylene waste, etc.). In a nutshell, SkipDewax is a non-toxic, cost-effective, one-step dewaxing and unmasking/antigen retrieval solution.
